Mobile app development for iOS and Android

Apps your customers, members or field staff use daily, built from one React Native codebase where it fits, or natively in Swift when it matters.

Mobile App Development by TechKnow

Overview

A good app is the visible tip of a larger system: the API, the admin tools and the notifications behind it.

What is mobile app development?

Mobile app development is building apps for iPhone and Android, plus the API, database, admin tools and notifications they depend on.

As a mobile app development company, we build the whole system, not just the screens. That means the iOS and Android apps, the API and database behind them, the admin panel your team uses, and the notifications, payments and analytics that tie it together.

We use React Native with Expo for most apps, so iOS and Android share one codebase and release together. When an app needs deep platform access we write it natively in Swift. Cablyst, our own Mac utility, reads USB-C hardware details through Apple’s system frameworks.

Capabilities

What Mobile App Development includes

Cross-platform apps

React Native with Expo: one codebase, two app stores, shared logic with the web.

Native iOS and macOS

Swift and SwiftUI when performance or system access needs it.

App back ends

APIs, databases, file storage, background jobs and push notifications.

Payments and subscriptions

In-app purchases, Stripe, Razorpay and Cashfree.

Maps and location

Live tracking, geofencing and delivery routing.

Release management

App Store and Play Store submission, over-the-air updates and crash reporting.

Process

How the engagement runs

1

Discovery

User journeys, platform needs and the minimum feature set for launch.

2

Design

Native-feeling designs, prototyped on real devices.

3

Build

Sprints with test builds on your phone every week via TestFlight and internal testing.

4

Launch

Store listings, review submission, analytics and a stable first month.

Pricing

How pricing works

We price work in one of three ways, and we tell you which one fits before you sign anything.

  • Fixed scope, fixed price. For work we can specify up front: a discovery sprint, an MVP with a frozen feature list, a migration with a known end state. You know the total before we start.
  • Time and materials. For products that will change as you learn. You pay for the hours the team works, see them every week, and can re-prioritize at any sprint boundary.
  • Monthly dedicated team. For long-running work. A fixed monthly fee per engineer, with the same people on your product every month.

Most clients start with a short paid discovery so the estimate for the build is based on facts rather than guesses. Send us a brief and we will tell you which model we would use and why.

FAQ

Mobile App Development: common questions

1

Should we build native or cross-platform?

Cross-platform React Native suits most business apps and roughly halves the work of two native apps. Choose native Swift or Kotlin for heavy graphics, deep hardware access or features the cross-platform tools do not support well.

2

How long does it take to build a mobile app?

A focused first version usually takes 10–16 weeks including the back end and admin tools. Store review adds a few days at launch.

3

Do you publish the app to the App Store and Google Play?

Yes. We prepare the listings, handle review feedback and set up release processes, under your developer accounts so you keep ownership.

4

Can you take over an existing app?

Yes. We audit the code, dependencies and store setup first, then fix urgent issues before adding features.
